Welcome U7 Parents
Hello all U7 parents!

The start of U7 Hockey is quickly approaching and I thought I would take this time to give you some information about this upcoming season.

The executive is still working hard to finalize the ice schedule (due to late registrations, etc.) and I assure you, as soon as I know more, you will know too.

The U7 program will start after thanksgiving (Oct 11 Start date) and each child registered will have ice times both on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  I do not know which group or time slot your child will be in yet as there are many last minute registrants coming in making it a bit of a scramble to get organized.

If you have a spouse, significant other, co-parent or anyone else you would like added to the email list please email [email protected]

You can also try to find information as it comes available on the SSMHA calendar and website  https://ssmha.com/Calendar/

COACHING--Parents we need your help!  This program is strictly run by parent volunteers.  Your child's first years of hockey need to be a positive experience. A fun and exciting start gives young players the opportunity to enjoy hockey for life! If a beginner has fun, develops basic skills and builds confidence, there is a better chance they will enjoy themselves. But if the early experience is unrewarding, they may never discover all Canada’s game has to offer.

We will be running 5 different groups/ice times in this U7 program both on Tuesdays and Saturdays of approximately 20-25 kids per group.  Ideally, we would like to see a minimum of five on ice helpers for each group.  If you are interested, please email [email protected] and Sasha will get you set up with the links to the qualifications you need to be an on ice coach for this age group.  It requires a bit of work, but all training is done online and you will be reimbursed by the SSMHA for the costs of the course. The practice plans for coaching these groups will be taken from the OMHA, Hockey Canada Network and Drill Hub and provided for your reference.

Looking forward to getting to meet everyone this year!
