Welcome Back U9 Families
Hello U9 families,
Welcome back to SSMHA hockey!
I'd like to bring your attention to the SSMHA Calendar (imbedded below) which has a list of the dates and times of your kids Pre-season skates.
They will organized as follows:
Group 1 will be last name A - Mercer
Group 2 will be last name Misch - Z
Dates for these skates are:
Tuesday September 13
Group 1: 5-6 pm
Group 2: 6-7 pm
Friday September 23
Group 1: 5-6 pm
Group 2: 6-7 pm
All skates at the Plex in Port Elgin.
You may notice there is a 3rd "Preseason skate" listed on the calendar, however this will likely be used as the first of the "evaluation skates". Groups for this will be determined after the 2 preseason skates are complete. If your child does not plan to come to the pre-season skate(s), please let me know.
**If any of your children are goalies or interested in goaltending full-time please reply and let me know as we will try to divide these kids up evenly for the pre-skates.
FYI: The executive and coaches are in discussions with the WOAA and still trying to determine the structure of the U9 program this year as it may be different than previous. There will likely be tiering of some teams according to skill level. Please bear with us as we are working as fast as we can to get things sorted out and will notify everyone as soon as we know. The purpose of these pre-season skates is simply to allow the kids the opportunity to ‘bust the rust’ off their skates before evaluations. These are optional skates, but we ask that your child only attend the one designated for them. These skates are not an evaluation skate, just a time for the kids to work on skills and have some fun. Please continue to monitor the SSMHA website and your emails to be kept in the loop regarding anything scheduling related. Please remember that your player will need full gear including a mouth guard to participate. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!
