Storm U18 Rep Defeat Minto Mad Dogs on Home Ice
The Saugeen Shores Storm U18 Rep defeated the Minto Mad Dogs on Wednesday night at the Plex, Port Elgin.

The Mad Dogs took the lead with a powerplay tally at 3:23 of the 1st period.

After sustained pressure in the 2nd period from the line of Jack Van Geel, Will Nason, and Austin Dunlop, the Storm would answered back with a beauty goal from Dunlop. From in tight his perfect shot would beat the Minto goaltender high to the blocker side to even the game at 1-1. Wyatt McNabb picked up the lone assist, making a key play to keep the puck in the attacking zone.

Heading to the 3rd period the Storm had the momentum. Less than 90 seconds into the period Dunlop wired a wrist shot from the slot that he would follow to the net and cash his own rebound. With Van Geel and Nason picking up helpers.

The Storm would increase their lead to 3-1 with a powerplay goal from Caleb Eagan at 11:15 of the 3rd period. His one-timer from the slot would catch the goaltender by surprise. The laser shot would beat the Minto netminder along the ice. Adam Perry picked up the primary assist on a precise pass from the side boards with Wes Kozelenko gaining the zone setting up the powerplay marker.

The line of Jake Lawrence, Nicholas Embro, and Jarrett Trumbley played a significant role using their speed and skill to draw multiple Mad Dog penalties in the 3rd period. Trumbley would record an assist in his debut.

In back-to-back wins the stingy, reliable defense of Devin Drury, Cameron Cumming, Evan Berry, Quinn Fowler, and Wyatt McNabb have limited the opposition to only 1 goal against.

It was Storm goalie Keenan Bender between the pipes picking up the win with his sharp performance stopping 29 of 30 shots, a remarkable .967 save percentage. Bender's rebound control was excellent.

The Storm will hit the road for a rematch with the Minto Mad Dogs on December 20th at 7:10 at Palmerston Arena.
