Storm hold off Blades in second game of the playoffs
The Saugeen Shores U11 AE Storm, sponsored by the Queens Bar and Grill, snuck out a 3-1 victory against the South Huron Blades on February 16, 2022.

After a dominant performance at home, the Storm travelled to Mildmay for the second game of the playoffs. However, this was the tale of two games.

The Storm came out and got 2 quick goals in the first from Malakai Kranenburg from Blake Desormeaux and Oliver Alpaugh from Edgerrin Kahgee. However the Blades answered quickly with a goal of their own. The Storm were short handed three times in the period and key defensive plays by Harrison Bray, Trent Cook and Finn Connolly kept the Storm in the game. Braxtyn McNeil potted a late goal in the 1st, but the rest of the game was a battle.

The second period, the Storm tested the Blades goalie several times with breakaways from Fletcher Mason, Preston Lamont, Jefferson Cremasco and Fletcher Ribey. Ryker McBride had an excellent chance off a point shot, but the Storm could not solve the Blades net-minder.

The 3rd period followed a similar path, with both teams trading shots. Brayden Dietrich was a steady presence in the net, turning away several opportunities from the Blades and controlling the puck like a seasoned veteran.
