Storm route Blades to open playoffs
The Saugeen Shores U11 AE Storm, sponsored by the Queens Bar and Grill, hosted the South Bruce Blades on February 12, 2022 in the first game of the playoffs. A strong 2nd and 3rd period sealed the victory for the Storm after a slow start.
In their first playoff game, the U11 AE Storm faced off against the South Bruce Blades at home. The Storm's regular season success against the Blades had them confident going into the 1st period, but it was the Blades that struck first on a PP goal late in the 1st.
The Storm came out strong in the second with an early goal by Braxtyn McNeil. The Storm continued to push with goals from Fletcher Mason, Preston Lamont, Finn Connolly and Oliver Alpaugh. Malakai Krananburg and Ryker McBride smothered several rush attempts by the Blades.
The 3rd period was very similar with the Storm coming out with an early goal by Harrison Bray. Edgerrin Kahgee added a goal after an excellent forecheck by Trent Cook and a pretty set up by Fletcher Ribey. Blake Desormeaux held the zone several times leading to goals by Preston Lamont and Fletcher Mason. Jeffesron Cremasco was a key contributor on the PK as the Storm found themselves shorthanded 3 times.
Ben Burnett-Scott battled back hard after the first goal turning away several attempts by the Blades. He was the backbone on the PK and kept the Storm in front throughout the game.
