Storm beat Blades for back to back wins
November 10, 2021: The Saugeen Shores Storm U11 AE, sponsored by the Queens Bar and Grill, played another dominant game Wednesday night, beating the South Bruce Blades 10-2.

The Storm carried over the momentum from their win Tuesday to Wednesday night in Mildmay, beating the Blades 10-2. The Storm skated hard from puck drop, neutralizing the Blades attack and minimizing shots on goal. Preston Lamont opened the scoring late in the first after some excellent puck movement by the line in the offensive zone. The Blades scored a late goal to tie the game, however Braxtyn McNeil scored a last second buzzer beater on a beautiful bar down snipe with 1 second left to take back the lead.

The Storm carried over their strong play into the second period, controlling the pace of play and keeping the attack predominately in the Blade’s zone. Fletcher Mason scored early in the period to put the Storm up by two goals. The Blades snuck one past goaltender Brayden Dietrich mid-way through the second, but goals from Finn Connolly and Braxtyn McNeil kept the Storm ahead.

The third period was a similar story, as the Storm looked to close out the game strong. Preston Lamont added two more goals to the secure the hatrick, while Fletcher Mason added his second early in the third and Edgerrin Kahgee added two late goals to round out the scoring.

Brayden Dietrich was once again strong in net for the Storm, turning away rush chances and point shots from the Blades. The Storm defence played another strong game, making key passes and holding in several clearing attempts by the Blades. Jefferson Cremasco, Fletcher Ribery and Trent Cook worked hard in the offensive zone to create turnovers and set up several of the Storm’s goals.

The coaching staff said that this was the best game the Storm have played all season, noting: improved passing, communication and hard work by the team.

The Storm will have a few days off before practice Saturday and Monday, followed by four away games.
