Storm pick up for regulation win of the season
November 10, 2021: After two tough losses against the Lakers and the Rebels, the Storm pick up the first win of the season against the Listowel Cyclones.

It was a game of firsts as the Saugeen Shores Storm U11AE won a decisive 8-0 game against the Listowel Cyclones on Tuesday night. Not only was it the Storm’s first regular season victory, a number of Storm players scored their first goals and goalie Ben Burnett-Scott recorded the first shutout of the season.

The Storm were in control from puck drop, holding the puck in Listowel’s end and limiting chances in their own end. Oliver Alpaugh got the Storm on the board first, for his first goal of the season.

In the second the Storm successfully killed off a 5 on 3 power play, while adding two short handed goals from Fletcher Mason and Jefferson Cremasco (his first of the season). Malakai Kranenburg scored a beautiful goal on and end to end rush (his first of the season) to cap off an eventful second period.

The Storm continued their strong play into the third, holding the offensive zone for most of the third. First goals of the season by Braxtyn McNeil, Harrison Bray, Preston Lamont and a second goal by Fletcher Mason rounded out the scoring.

Goalie Ben Burnett-Scott did not have a busy night, but was poised when tested, turning away all shots on goal. Ryker McBride and Blake Desormeaux played key roles on the backend as well as holding the offensive zone for the Storm.

The Storm look to carry the momentum of last nights win into tonight when they play the South Bruce Blades in Mildmay.
