Saugeen Shores Storm Hold Ironmen Scoreless In Blowout Win
The Saugeen Shores Atom Rep Storm, sponsored by UNIFOR, traveled to Wingham on Saturday afternoon and posted a blowout win against the Ironmen.  The Storm started the game with strong offensive pressure that drew a tripping penalty from the Ironmen early in the first period.

Will Conley used the 5 on 4 advantage to open the scoring with an assist by Bradley Seaman.  Back to 5 on 5, the Storm offense kept the pressure on with Rich Buckland and Chase Cosgrove connecting with Kai Bailey for the second Storm goal 11 seconds later.   The rest of the period saw great back checking and more strong drives on the Wingham net for several good scoring chances before Cooper Henderson and Greyson Wolfe set up Mack Smith for a one timer hard to the back of the net to end the first period 3-0.

The second period opened with Brock Harrison stick handling through the Ironmen squad putting one top shelf past the Ironmen keeper.  The good positioning and strong passing plays in the remainder of the second period shows that the boys have responded well to the great coaching during practices and brought that learning into their game play.  Their efforts earned them three more goals in the period scored by Brock Harrison, Chase Cosgrove, and Gordie Brady, to end the second period with the Storm ahead of the Ironmen 7-0.

The third period opened with more of the same pressure from the Saugeen Shores skaters with Brock Harrison and Gordie Brady each scoring their second goal of the game with backhanders into the Ironmen net.  The middle of the third period saw some chippy play from the frustrated Ironmen, drawing a questionable cross checking penalty from Bradley Seaman.  Not phased by the penalty, the Storm kept the pressure on allowing Cooper Henderson to clean up a loose puck in front of the Wingham net for the 10th and final goal of the game.  Kaine Myers stood tall in the Storm net all game and in the closing seconds of the game made one final stop on an Ironmen breakaway to seal his first shut-out win of the season, earning him the player of the game.  The team is looking forward to carrying this energy into Sunday afternoon’s Halloween showdown against a traditionally strong Walkerton Capitals squad on home ice.  Go Storm!
