Busy weekend for Saugeen Shores Midget LL#2
As the regular season winds down, the Midget LL#2 team is showing no signs of slowing down. The team played three games this past weekend, coming away with a win, a loss and tie.

First up on Friday night was a home game against West Grey. Revenge was on the boys’ minds, having lost to the Warriors in overtime in an earlier tournament. Scoring began early and often, with the Storm blowing past West Grey by a score of 8-1. Leading the scoring was Sam Flarity with a hat trick, with Skylar Soini adding two goals and singles went to Tony Sarauz, Theo Wilkinson and Sam Elyea. Des Gouin added three assists along with Soini, Sarauz, Ethan Walsh, Theo Wilkinson, Emmerson Gottscheu and Isaac Bester. Jarrett Blue played a strong game in net, making some keys saves throughout the match.

On Saturday night, the Storm travelled to Shallow Lake to play the Lakers. The game stayed close and ended up in a 2-2 tie. Scoring for Saugeen Shores was Sam Flarity, assisted by Tony Sarauz and Des Gouin and Jared Meyer unassisted. Toby Wilkinson and Curtis Bender played strong defense to help keep the score low with Aiden deVries battling in the open ice.

To finish up the weekend, the Midgets returned to the Plex on Sunday afternoon to play against TCDMHA. The Rebels are currently 2nd in the standings so the Storm knew it would be a tough matchup. The speed of the game was high from the opening faceoff and it was an exciting game to watch. Both teams held the lead during the game but in the end, the Rebels came out on top 3-2. Scoring for the Storm was Sam Elyea and Sam Flarity. Theo Wilkinson assisted on both goals. Once again, Jarrett Blue made some important saves, keeping the game close.

Next up for the Storm is a game on Sunday at the Plex vs. AEMHA.
