Storming into November with first win.
TD Port Elgin Novice Girls Storm had the privilege of participating in the Owen Sound Attack mini game during the second intermission of the Attacks tilt against the London Knights.  Fans were treated to an intrasquad game that was filled with great two way hockey, spectacular goals and tremendous saves at both ends of the ice.  As the players skated off, sticks in the air saluting the fans, you could see their confidence building.

Sunday morning brought about a big challenge; a late morning bout with the Kincardine Kinucks House League team, their first meeting of the regular season.  The game started off with fast paced end to end action as both teams battled in a tremendous two way game.  Each team worked their forecheck beautifully and much of the game was spent battling in the corners.  The Storm forwards back checked with speed and aggression spoiling the Kinucks attacks.  Penelope Tedford stood tall in the net steering away multiple shots with a fast stick and perfect positioning.

The second started like the first and the game remained deadlocked until midway into period.  Lilah Wolfe used her skates to break up a Kinucks clearing attempt at the blue line keeping the play alive in the Kincardine zone.  Instinctively, Grace Phillips jumped on the loose puck, carried it to the net and buried it for her first of the season.

In the third period, the Kinucks came out firing on all cylinders but the Storm defenders continued to clog up the middle and steer the play to the boards stymying most of Kincardines attack.  The Storm forwards maintained their backcheck while all scoring opportunities were shut down by a goaltender that was clearly on her game.  Kincardines best opportunity came in the dying seconds of the third as an attacker finally slid the puck past the Storm netminder but she was unable to beat the clock as time had already run out.

Elated, the TD Port Elgin Novice Girls Storm swarmed around their goalie in celebration as they downed their shoreline rival by a score of 1-0.
