LL2 Marking a W vs. Mount Forest
With teams looking a bit rusty after a long holiday hiatus, Saugeen Shores Storm PeeWee LL 2 players dug in to eek out a win on the road against the Mount Forest Rams.

Goaltender Jack Bennett performed like a champ in this game, moving quickly, popping up and down protecting the net.  He made the many glove-saves look easy and was always ready to cover the puck in scrambles in front of the net.

Both Storm goals were scored by players who were playing defense in this game. Quinn scored the first with a crazy angle on the left side, dropping the puck in behind the goalie, which bounced off the net-minder’s back and past the goal line.    Strange, but true. That was not one of the shots they have been working on in Coach Mike’s practices but a goal is a goal.

Our second goal which held the score at 2:0 was scored by Brady Phillips.  Woot, Woot!  Seeing a hole, Brady took the shot and SCORED!  The Storm crowd went WILD cheering for Brady’s first goal of the season.   Brady is known best for his ability to mess up the opposition’s approaches to the net as a savvy and solid defenseman, not for his attacks in an offensive role.  Great shot Brady, looking good!

Next game is a hometown showdown against our very own LL1 team at the Plex, 5:45 Saturday, Jan 21.  It’s gonna be a fun one!

To prepare for the upcoming game, we expect to see players out 6 – 7 pm on Wednesday in South for the practice.
