Saugeen Shores Storm AE Maintains Playoff Lead Against Kincardine Kinucks
This past Saturday the Kincardine Kinucks AE team travelled to Port Elgin to face off against Saugeen Shores  Atom AE Storm for an early afternoon match up which proved to be bitter sweet as the Storm dominated the game.

Saugeen Shores Storm AE fans cheered early in the game when Cameron Cumming snuck the puck in the opposing end net and opened up the score board with a 1-0 lead, assisted by Ozzie and Brock.  This was the only goal in the first period for either team, but the play was dictating that there was more to come.

The Storm rallied up going into the 15 minute period in the second and quickly got goal number 2 compliments of Carson Anderson.   Emmett and Wesley offered the assists.   A body checking penalty was being served by the Kinucks when Hunter Palinsky put the 3rd goal into the Kincardine net, assisted by Cameron, making it a 3-0 match.  The score was maintained until the end of the second period.

The puck dropped at centre ice and it must have had a target to reach as Brandon Embro took it into the Kinucks end and buried it high in the mesh only 9 seconds into the period making it 4-0, compliments of a quick pass from Cam.  Making their debut, the Kincardine managed to score at the 10:00 minute mark into the third making the score 4-1.  One more goal was had by the Storm’s Emmett Jackson as he slammed in the 5th goal which came from a direct pass from the Kinucks defenseman.

Frustration was high at this point in the game as Kincardine team was down by 4 and little time remained.  Penalties were incurred by both centres in the last 3 minutes of this match up, as emotions took over.  This did not lead to anything other than a 5-1 victory for game 2 in our series against Kincardine.  This victory did not come solely by the teams ability to score, but also because the Storm was able to keep the puck out of the net.  “Colby is on fire” was one of the comments that might have been said, or heard throughout this game, which was a true statement.  Great game Colby!

Game three of this series is on Wednesday 18 January when the Storm travels to Kincardine and meet up at the Davison Centre. Come and cheer on our team…Go-Storm-Go!
