Peewee LL#1 Finish Season as Maroon Division Finalist
Peewee LL#1, South Port Optimist, ended the season as Championship Finalist in a very exciting season.  It has been a long time since they took to the ice for their first practice in October and man has the team really grown over the season.

The Storm Peewee LL#1 had a pretty successful regular season, there where ups and downs and some really close games but overall it was pretty successful.  The team finished with a 12-5-1 record earning them 25 points and 5th overall in the league standings.
When it came time for the round robin in playoffs the Storm found themselves in the Maroon Division among the top 5 teams in the league just squeaking in ahead of the Storm Peewee LL#2 team at 23 points and just behind their arch rivals The Shallow Lake Lakers with 27 points.
Now in a home and home round robin against the top teams in the North Division, it proved to be a very tight competition.  As the Playoff Round Robin went on, all the teams where very tight for points but it came down to the last game to decide the winners of the Maroon North Division.  March 12th the last game for the round robin the Storm and Hanover Falcons#2 were tied with points and winner of this game would decide who would be the North Division Champs.  The Storm had been in some tight matches up to this point with three games being decided in overtime, two of which where come from behind wins against Shallow Lake.  The Storm rallied together and once again won in a epic come from behind win in overtime to take the North Division.

Before they took to the Championship series the Storm competed in the Young Canada Peewee Tournament in Goderich and went home with the Consolation Championship.

The series was a best of three and it was the North Division Champs, Saugeen Shores Storm, verses the South Division Champs, Zurich Thunder.  Zurich managed to get the best of the Storm winning in two games straight but they where two very good games played by two great teams.  The Boys were a little upset over the loss but the Coach reminded them of where they came from just getting into the North Maroon Division to winning was a huge achievement and to not hang their heads low.

I just want to take a moment and thank all the parents for letting me have their kids this season.  This team had really come together as the season went on and they really build some character in the playoffs with their never give up attitude. Although it is upsetting as we were so close to being league champions I am so very proud to have had an opportunity to work with this group.  I wish all of you the best in the off season and hope everyone enjoys the warmer weather coming away from the rink.  I do look forward to seeing you all in September as we get next season underway.

Thank you on behalf of the Peewee LL#1 Staff
