Southport Optimist Peewee LL#1 2016 Season Report
Saugeen Shores PeeweeLL#1 has started of the season in decent form as they rolled into the Christmas break with a 9-3-1 record and holding onto 4th place in the WOAA North Division.

The team got off to an early start as they where selected to take part in the traditional Showdown on the the Shores a great day of mostly Rep teams, boys and girls playing exhibition games and collecting food for local food banks and people in need.  The Storm walked away with a convincing win that day and started focusing on their first regular season game the next week.

In the regular season play the team has really grown as they have been working very hard on their skills in practice with the coaching staff really drilling them.  This has carried over into some great work ethic in games and the team has really grown to trust each other as we have seen some fantastic plays.  The forward groups are moving the puck well with their linemates and really driving the net for rebounds.  The defense are shutting things down and moving the puck up ice very well even jumping into the rush when they see a hole. The Storm's goalie has been doing well as he has earned 4 shutouts this season.

We have selected two AP's this season with a backup goalie and an extra player for when players are sick or unavailable.  We have had the Goalie help us to a 2-2 tie vs Owen Sound#1 and our player has played in two games against Shallow Lake and Kincardine#1 respectively and both games the Storm came out with a victory.
We finished 2016 regular season play in Kincardine with a convincing win and the Coaching staff is looking forward to seeing this hard work carry over into the John Henry Memorial Tournament in Strathroy over the Holidays.

Great work this season thus far team and remind your biggest fans to keep cheering for us loudly as we will start back into finishing off the regular season in Jan 2016 and then focusing on Playoffs.
