Storm Midget C Girls win 36th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament
The Storm Midget C Girls enjoyed an amazing weekend (Feb 17-19) in Brantford,  bringing home Gold from the 36th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Ice.

The Storm made their way to Sunday's final by completing the round robin portion of the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating the South Huron Sabres, the Kincardine Kinucks and the Ottawa Ice.

The final game was evenly matched with both teams trading chances throughout. Storm game MVP, goaltender Marley Scott, was unbeatable in the late stages however,  with Ottawa pressing hard and earning multiple good scoring chances.

The gold medal winning goal came with under 5 minutes to play in the third.  A short handed beauty that came off the stick of Storm winger Rebekah Cassidy.  In her familiar role as tenacious penalty killer, Cassidy managed to pick off an errant Ottawa clearing pass, step over the blue line into the Ottawa zone and fire the game winner through the legs of the surprised Ottawa Ice goaltender.

This marks the second straight tournament win for the girls this year, and their third appearance in a tournament final.  They are looking forward to their upcoming OWHA playdowns in hopes earning a spot in the OWHA Provincial Championship Tournament which takes place in April in Mississauga.
