Halloween Weekend
Halloween Weekend This weekend was a busy one for sure!

Saturday, October 31, Halloween Night, the Allan's Fireside Grill Atom AE took to the road to take on the Kincardine Kinucks.

The Orange and Black had the advantage, being at home and donning the colours of Halloween. Kincardine struck early on at 8:49 in the first period, but our Storm never lost composure.  We kept battling in the corners and fighting hard along the boards.  These kids never cease to amaze and impress!  Again though that pesky Halloween themed Orange and Black took a 2-0 lead at 6:56 in the first, and it stayed that way at the sound of the first horn.  Coach Rich Harris and staff had pep talked between periods and we came out hard in the second.  Unfortunately for a bad bounce those Kinucks jumped to a 3-0 lead at 9:25 of the second period.  Our team never gave up, they kept those battles going, and had a few great shots and break ins, but the Kinucks goaltender was standing on his head!  Lightning fast glove hand and some really great pad saves, until 1:29 left in the second period when A. Guo floated a beauty across the ice for L. Noe, and he bulged the twine to solve the tender!  At the end of 2 it was a 3-1 game.  Storm fans were on the edge of their seats, but again in the third, that little tender from Kincardine stole the show, and then at 5:58 in the third Kincardine put a way their 4th of the game and the last goal of the game.  Congrats to the team, we played well and never gave up, an attitude that we have all seen all season long from them.

Sunday, November 1, we took to the ice against the Zurich Thunder.  The Plex would be the site of the showdown against a team we had never seen in action before.  In an awesome show of teamwork there were 9 separate goal scorers in a 14-2 win over our opponents.  Opening the first period at 8:49 J. Van Geel fed a pass out to
W. Nason for the first of the game.  However, showing that they were here to play 23 seconds later Zurich answered and knotted the game at 1-1.  That however just got our Allan's Fireside AE team "Fired" up!  At 7:52, A. Guo netted one with the assist going to C. McCulloch, and that wasn't the end of it.  6:37 H. Palinsky from N. Meleski made it 3-1, and less than 3 minutes later at 3:42 T. Martin let it go from A. Guo, to make it 4-1.  56 seconds later W. Nason managed his second tally of the night again from J. Van Geel, at 3:18, and again before the first period was out, at 0:19 w. Nason marked his hattie with the assist going to J. Legge, and at the buzzer our Storm had taken a decisive 6-1 lead into the second period.  As the puck dropped on the second period, the Storm was still going strong.  Winning battles, controlling the game and playing like a well oiled machine.  We saw great play from the entire team with rushes and passing and all around "TEAM" play.  Again hard play was rewarded at the 7:51 mark of the second as J. Van Geel put one home assist going to J. Legge.  Then at 7:15 J. Legge bulged the twine with an unassisted goal.  The Thunder never gave up and kept coming at us, and at 5:55 they netted a short handed goal to make it 8-2.  As with the last goal by the Thunder it got the Storm team going hard again, and at the 3:55 mark, while on the power play, W. Nason netted what would be his 4th of the day, with assist going to H. Palinsky.  That was what we thought would be the end of the scoring in the second period, but L. Harris got past the defenders and with a mere 1.6 seconds left on the clock he wired one home unassisted.  With a commanding 10-2 lead, we kept on the puck hard, and winning the important battles to keep our goaltender, C. Lettau from seeing a lot of action, but when he was called upon he stood up and made the saves.  Attacking and winning battles is what we do well, and at the 11:50 mark of the third period, J. Legge netted a short handed goal unassisted for his 2nd of the day.  Then again at 8:54 of the period, C. McCulloch potted a power play goal with a wicked point shot unassisted.  We kept the pressure high, and still pushed the play deep into the opposing team's end, and at the 3:32 mark, B. Embro was rewarded for some hard play all game with a tally, assists going to C. Hoffman, and W. Nason respectively.  T. Martin closed out the scoring at the 1:19 mark, assist going to H. Palinsky.  The coaching staff is very proud of the way this team is coming together, congrats to all the players on a great season so far.  Things keep rolling this upcoming week as we have Development on Wednesday, Novemeber 4th at 7pm in Southampton, Friday is a 6pm practice in Southampton as well.  Then on the Road to take on the Zurich Thunder in their own Barn on Saturday, November 7th at 5:30pm, then back home again on Sunday at 11:30 in the Plex against the Howick Hornets.
See you at the Rink!
