Shootout in Lucknow
The weather finally cleared up and the Crabby Joe's Atom C Girls travelled to Lucknow for a afternoon shootout.
The Storm girls flew out of the gate with an early goal on the first shift by McKenzie with a shot that had eyes for the back of the net assisted by Parker and Natalie. The next shift wasn't to be outdone as Chloe scored and unassisted goal to make the score 2-0. Ashley ended the period with a goal that she scored from behind the net assisted by Brooklyn. The second period started with the Storm girls up 3-0 when midway through the period, Lucknow scored the first goal. Ashley quickly responded, redirecting a hard shot by Lauren from the blue line to restored the 3 goal lead. Third period, let the shootout begin. Lucknow scored three straight goals to begin the third period to tie the score (thanks Gabe). Natalie then responded with a unassisted goal to regain the lead. With 2 minutes left in the game, Lucknow then tied the score again. The girls did not want to let this game slip away and 30 seconds later, Ashley completed the hat trick with an assist from Brooklyn. Lucknow pulled their goalie for the final minute but the Storm girls stood their ground. Final scored 6-5. Emma saved the game with a couple of big saves on breakaways and the defense of Ella and Layla was solid. Madison, Abbey, and Gillian were digging hard on the boards. Gracelyn's speed and puck handling is improving every time she hits the ice. Great game.
