Storm#1 vs Storm#2 in Playoffs
Storm#1, Allan’s Fireside Grill, were guest to Storm#2 this afternoon at the Plex for a WOAA Atom North Division playoff game.  These games against the two Storm teams are always great as there are always plenty of fans cheering on their favourite Storm team and the players get a chance to play hard against their friends from down the street and their classmates.

The puck drops and the fans start cheering; Storm#1 went to work trying to get something going in the other teams end.  The game was back and forth with both teams applying tones of pressure in each other’s end.  We saw a few nice passing plays and a few good chances on Storm#2’s goalie and the team kept battling hard.  Just before the seven minute mark Storm#2 opened the scoring despite a few great saves Big Save Benny had to make early in the game.  This would prove to be the only marker in the first and even though the Storm#1 had a few good looks and some nice plays up ice they remained behind by one at the end of the first.

The second looked very much like the first as both teams got great chances on net and worked hard in each other’s zone.  Big Save Benny was living up to his name as he was saving some great shots on net with his blocker, glove and pads and even directing a few off to the corner.  With the entire team battling hard Jake scored unassisted just before the four minute mark to tie up the game.  The team was pumped and the crowd was cheering loud in celebration.  Storm#2 came back with another goal with less than two minutes left in the period and when the when the buzzer sounded it was a 2-1 game.

Storm #1 was not discouraged by the score as they really took it to their opponents and battled hard in all three zones on the ice.  Big Save Benny continued to make some beauty saves and the team was making some real nice passes out front of the net and up ice coming out of ours.  Storm#2 would score again on a puck that was lobbed in just over Bens shoulder.  This would be the final goal of the game as Storm#1 had several more chances but just could not tuck one home.  The final would be 3-1 but Storm#1 was not discouraged.  The coaches were pleased with their compete level and the way they cheered each other on from the bench.  Good game team and nice work out there.  Hunter was awarded the Digger Award for his hard work on the ice as he really battled hard all game long and Big Save Benny was given three cheers from his teamates.

Next game is Sat Feb 28th vs Shallow Lake Lakers in Southampton at 3pm
