LL 2 Takes the Championship

Congratulations on a great season and the Championship win.

Forwards: Lucas Noe, Liam Kelly, Andrew Guo, Joseph Hodgkins, Caleb Mason, Tyler Morrison, Tristan Lennan, Brennan Martin, Camden Ritchie and Devin Drury.
Defensemen: Quinn Fowler, Dylan Poulsen, Ritchie Carter, Nick Embro, and Brady Phillips and Jack Bennett – Goalie.

Every player on the team is responsible for the score.  If you block a shot, foil an attacker, take a shot, make a good pass, look for your teammates to move the puck up the ice, skate an opponent out of the play or consistently play your position, all those moves and decisions affect the score on the board.  Fewer shots taken on our goalie keep the opponents scoring chances lower – defensive play is just as important as goal scoring.

A great defensive AND offensive game was played for our final game of the season with
Saugeen Shores Local League 2 winning the game 8 – 2 and finishing the season as the Local League Champs.  The win was made sweeter for Ritchie Carter because it was his birthday!   Happy Birthday Ritchie.

Goals Scored: Devin Drury with 4, Dylan Poulsen with 2, Lucas Noe with 1 and Liam Kelly with 1.

Assists credited to: Tyler Morrison, Lucas Noe and Dylan Poulsen

Defensive tactics, taking shots on net and quick thinking: Everyone

The boys were consistent all year, maintaining a top spot in the standings.  The whole team, not only players but also the coaching staff, parents, grandparents and siblings enjoyed a fun, positive and winning season.  Every player really tried their best and worked their hardest to attend practice, skate strong during games, and learn new things.

A big thank you goes out to the leadership staff and parent volunteers who helped with practices, gate collection, clock and scoresheet, music during games, and other jobs as needed.  Special mention to Manager -Crystal Poulsen, Assistant Coach – John Poulsen,  Trainer – Peter Noe and Head Coach Mike Phillips. Coach Mike demanded that players did their very best every time they stepped out on the ice to represent Saugeen Shores.

Playing hockey is tough and you gentlemen showed that you can handle the challenge.  Great season!  That’s the way it’s done boys!

See you next year in Atom and good luck to the 2nd year players who will move on to PeeWee in the fall.
