Hometown Showdown:
The boys came onto the ice pumped for the game against the other Storm team – LL 1.   There were many fans in the stands to watch the good-natured rivalry between the hometown teams.

Our team, LL 2 had many scoring opportunities and applied great pressure throughout the first period.  Only 3 minutes into the first, defenseman Quinn Fowler deeked around the opposition for a shot on net – and scored.

In the second period, both teams put a puck in the net.  The first and only LL 1 goal was a beauty scored by #5 Jake Lawrence at 4:13.  It takes a great shot to get by Goalie Jack Bennett!  Jack showed great flexibility and quick reflexes to block many shots on net.   The goal was answered by Camden Ritchie at 1:39.  Camden showed tons of effort this game and he worked hard all game long – he was hungry for a goal today.  At the end of the second the score was 2 – 1 for Storm LL 2.

A fantastic defensive game was played by Nick Embro, he took his time reading the play, looking for open teammates and making solid passes.  Brady Phillips and Nick Embro both did well staying in position and were consistently in the right place, at the right time.  Defenseman Ritchie Carter showed great perseverance throughout the game.  Dylan Poulsen and Quinn Fowler both poured on the speed to carry the puck up when they had the chance.    Quinn scored our third goal in the 3rd period which brought the final score to 3 – 1 for Storm LL 2.

The passing on the forward lines was awesome this game.  Excellent team-play by Tyler Harrison, Andrew Guo, Lucas Noe and Liam Kelly who kept their eyes open and sticks ready to give and receive passes.  There was great communication within our offense.  Liam maintained great position play, taking charge in front of the net.  Brennan Martin and Caleb Mason showed their speed throughout the game.  Lucas Noe and Andrew Guo both powered to the net to take shots.  Devin Drury showed power and speed as well as some fancy stick-handling and had a great attempt at a wrap-around shot.    Joe Hodgkins and Tristen Lennan played hard this game, digging for the puck and skating hard.

Saugeen Shores Atom LL2 plays next against Shallow Lake on March 7th in Southampton.
