An Exciting WIn
Even with the playoffs started, the Heather's Poodle Care/Ralph's Shoppette Bantam Girls had one final game to finish off the season. Like so many games before this one, it came down to the finish in a one goal victory. Rachel Kelly opened the scoring from a mad scramble in front of the Grey Highlands net. She somehow spotted the puck and buried it for an early lead.

The Shooting Stars tied it up on a scramble of their own and we were in for a tight finish. The game winning goal came from a rush up the ice by Abby Acton. On a two on one break with Rachel Kelly, Abby hung onto the puck and with a solid wrist shot in the top stick side corner the lead was back in our hands. The girls know how to hold onto leads, and this one was no different, with a strong defence holding back the attack and Tiffany Kewagishig in net it was a near certainty that the score would stand up. Next up for the girls is the Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford on the 21st 22nd and 23rd of Feb. We will be facing 3 teams that we have not met this year, Norfolk, St Thomas and East Lambton. It will be an exciting weekend of hockey and maybe even some fun after the games for the parents as Saugeen Shores sends 5 girls teams to this event.
