LL4 Maisie Trelford Finishes 2nd overall in Novice LL WOAA Division
The LL4 McNuggets finished off their season by competing in a best of 3 series against Saugeen Shores LL2 team headed by Darryl McKinnon.  This team was a powerhouse all season and it was a privilege to go up against them for the WOAA Championship round.

Building up to the final games of the playoffs was quite intense.  The McNuggets practices were focused around areas that we knew we needed to strengthen if we were going to defeat LL2.  McKinnon’s had his team in a tournament not too long before the final match up and also managed to squeeze in an exhibition game against Kincardine.  Both teams were prepared to battle and also have some fun as we took on local friends and school mates for this final match up.

Saturday‘s game number 1 for the championship was a wake-up call.  It seemed as though we couldn’t get sync up as a team to get any points.  Although the teammates appeared to be playing strong, it just wasn’t a team effort and the final score showed this.  Losing 9 nothing in our first match up was a real disappointment.

Kudos and the game puck went to Lucas M. for hanging in the net and trying to stop as many shots as he could.

Sunday’s game was much better.  The focus going out onto the ice was much improved and the talk before hand was respectable.  This was a much different game and we can all be proud of our efforts.  The game was very even up and until the third period where there was a 1 goal lead by McKinnon’s LL2 team.  Into the third we lowered our guard a bit and the LL2 team managed to squeeze 2 more past Doughboy to end the game at 5-3.

Brandon E. was the only goal scorer for the McNuggets, sinking 2 beautiful goals for the team.  Great game Brandon.  Keep up the hard work.

Coach Nugget made 1 comment after the game.  “There aren’t enough pucks to give out to all of the hard working players that deserve one, but you should all be proud of your efforts.”  That pretty much sums up the last game of the season.

Congratulations go out to the McNuggets for an awesome season.  Being a WOAA championship finalist and bringing home a Silver medal is an honorable mention which all teammates should be proud of.

I encourage everyone to read the team email sent out by Tammy to all members as there are a lot of name drops and thank you’s within it.  In return I would like to thank the LL4 organization for allowing me to express my thoughts on behalf of the LL4 Maisie Trelford McNuggets.  It was a pleasure.

This concludes our 2013-2014 Novice year.
