The Unifor Atom Rep Team Ends The Season With A Second Place Finish
The Unifor Atom Rep Team ends the season with a second place finish at the Elmvale Maple Syrup Country Rep Tournament held March 28-30.
It was a very exciting weekend for the Unifor Atoms who participated in their fifth tournament of the year and the made the championship game for the fourth time this season.
The tournament started early Friday morning with a 2-0 victory over the host Elmvale Coyotes and then later in the day another victory over the West Lorne Comets 1-0.
Friday night the skills competition was held and five of the Storm players represented their team in the 8 team completion. James Fowler was 2nd in the Fastest Skater, Zahne Barton was 2nd in the Puck Control, Spencer Sutter was 3rd in the Break Away Challenge, Jarrett Blue was 3rd in the Goalie Competition and Joey Ackert was 2nd in the Shooting Accuracy.
Saturday was all about fun as the Storm went snow tubing in the morning at Snow Valley and then a late afternoon game against the Seaforth Stars where once again the Storm were victorious 3-2. With their third victory in a row the Storm were the number one seed in their pool and this guaranteed them a game in semi finals.
The semi final game was played Sunday morning against the Lincoln Blades whom the Storm played in the OMHA Quarter finals. This game ended in a 4-1 victory for the Storm and sent them to their fourth tournament final of the season.
In the champioship game the Storm faced the Kincardine Kinucks however came up a little short in the game and lost 5-1.
Overall it was a fanastic tournament by an awesome team!
