Nov 10 – Storm Battle Lightning to an Epic Draw
It had all the makings of a Perfect “Storm” as the Lightning from Georgian Shores made their way to the beaches of Port Elgin, and the girls did not disappoint the many fans in attendance with a 1-1 draw.
The absolute star of clash was the effort put forth by all 14 Storm girls. This was followed closely by Marley Scott in goal, with save after save frustrating the Lighting offense time after time.
The afternoon in Southampton saw the girls bring an
intensity and puck battling focus that we have not yet seen. The two teams exchanged chances throughout
both the first and second period taking a 0-0 tie into the locker room after
the 2nd period. This now brings
the chance for the Storm girls to bring on their signature Power 3rd
period. They did not disappoint as
Savanah Brown receives a pass from Victoria Matheson and spins around with a
power backhand to lift the Storm into the lead.
This is Savanah’s second goal on the year. This seemed to spark the Lightning, as the
charged back less than 1 minute later to tie the match at 1’s, with 7 minutes
remaining. The Storm had numerous
chances down the stretch but could not find the back of the net.
It almost seemed fitting for the game to end in a draw, as
both teams left nothing out there, and played a very hard-fought but respectful
and clean game. Something all the fans, parents,
coaches and officials truly appreciated.
Once again the Bantam Girls would like to send out a special
thank you to all the Pee Wee Girls that came up to help out, after playing in
the game immediately before. They are
Savanah Brown, Victoria Matheson, Tori Sutter-Lammie, Eve Martin, Teena
Ritchie, and Marley Scott.
Coach, Ken.
