Rosner’s Service Centre/Krown Rust Control Atom AE team continue to improve
by Christine Flarity

The Rosner’s Service Centre/Krown Rust Control Atom AE team continues to improve this season and this weekend was no exception.  Even though they came away with a loss and a tie, they have shown improvements in team play and puck control since the start of the season.

On Friday night, the Storm rolled into Chesley, looking to improve on their last showing, a 7-0 loss in the first game of the season.  This time, with only 9 skaters the team came out strong, building a 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Sam Flarity and James Fowler.  However, the Ice Dogs from Arran Elderslie were not going to give up that easily.  The Storm fought hard but in the end, lost 5-2.  Jarrett Blue had an excellent game in net including a highlight reel toe save.

On Saturday, the team headed to Keady for a rematch with TCDMHA.  The last game resulted in a 2-2 tie and this promised to be just as exciting as both teams are true AE teams in their towns.  The home team came out firing and quickly built up a 2-0 lead before Sam Flarity powered his way to the net and scored unassisted.  Three minutes later, James Fowler tied the game on another unassisted play.  The Storm would take the lead in the second as Sam Flarity scored his second of the game on an assist from Skylar Soini.  The seesaw battle continued as the Rebels tied the game up again.  Saugeen Shores relied on the strong defense of Carter O’Leary, David Parsons, Nic Lalonde and Hunter Barnard to keep the game close.  Logan Lemcke also helped his line create scoring opportunities on many occasions.  Early in the third, Walker McNabb connected at the net on a nice feed from Francesca Alpajaro to give the Storm the lead once again.  But with under two minutes to play, the Rebels tied it up to end the game in a 4-4 tie.

Next up for the Storm is the International Silver Stick Tournament in Collingwood this weekend.  Go Storm!
