Pee Wee Road Trip
Not a bad road trip at all for the Pee Wee Rep.

The Saugeen Shores Legion PeeWee Storm has been busy travelling across the country side.  We’ll start in Clinton where the Storm took on the BCH Ice Dogs. The first period went back & forth, not only on the ice but in the penalty box until the end of the period when The Storm had to kill off a 3 on 5. The first penalty was just about to expire when the Ice Dogs scored in the dying seconds of the period. Saugeen Shores spent some more time in the bad box in the second but managed to hold off the Ice Dogs. Lots of good hockey in the third but BCH tucked one in with 4:30 left in the period. Two minutes later, Wade Kewageshig fed the puck from the point down low to Nic Matheson who sent it out front to Riley Johnson to get the Storm on the board. With seconds left, the Dogs would bark again to get the 3-1 win.

Next The Storm travelled to Kincardine to play the Kinucks. The Storm had two power play opportunities in the first but couldn’t capitalize. Kincardine would be the first on the scoreboard with a goal halfway through the period and got another two minutes later. The Storm put on the pressure in the second but just couldn’t get the puck into the net. Kincardine would get three more in the third for a 5-0 win. Many thanks to Alec Horning for doing a great job in net for the Storm.

Then it was off to Walkerton for a game against the Capitals. There was some great back & forth action in the first but both goalies kept the puck out of their nets. The Storm would start the scoring early in the second as Brayden Horseman passed behind the net to Nic Matheson in the corner. Nic then got the puck to Emma Vanhaelemeesch out front. The puck went off the cross bar and in. With less than two minutes left in the period, Walkerton would get two quick goals to take the lead. The Capitals would get two more in the third but the Storm didn’t give up. With just over a second left in the game, Nic Matheson got the puck out to Sam Maksymyk who was high in the slot and put it top shelf.

Congratulations to the Storm for all their hard work. Everybody got A LOT of ice time with a few players missing from the line-up.
