The Saugeen Shores Legion PeeWee BB Storm travelled to Strathroy Nov 2 to 4th to take part in the 47th annual Rep Olympics Tournament. The Storm didn’t get the start they had hoped for in their first game Friday afternoon as they lost to the home team 3-0.
Friday evening, they took on the St. Mary’s Rock. The Storm
managed to kill off an early penalty but St. Mary’s would get the first goal at
4:31. St. Mary’s got a penalty just as the period ended and The Storm took
advantage early in the second. Nick Matheson got possession of the puck, sent
it to Riley Gerrior Johnson who handed it off to his defensive partner Jack
Middleton. Jack took it end to end to tie the game. Unfortunately, The Rock got
two quick goals shortly after and two more quick goals at the end of the period.
The Storm went short handed early in the third and St. Mary’s scored in the
next shift. The Storm went on the power play a couple of minutes later but
couldn’t get anything going. The game would end in a 6-1 win for St. Mary’s.
Saturday afternoon, Saugeen
Shores went up against Dorchester. The Storm came out strong and the first
period was back & forth but Dorchester
would get two quick goals in the dying minutes of the period. The Storm killed
off an early penalty in the second but Dorchester
got a goal shortly after the penalty ended. The Storm went on the power play
two minutes later but couldn’t take advantage of the extra man. Dorchester scored their fourth goal in the last minute of
the period. They would score again at the beginning and at the end of the third
to make it 6-0 for Dorchester.
Saturday evening, it was The Storm vs The St. Thomas Stars.
The first ended in a scoreless tie. Twenty-two seconds into the second, Ben
Lalonde passed to Brayden Horseman to put The Storm on the board first. Both
teams spent their share of time in the bad box but neither power play could
find the back of the net. In the third, The Storm managed to kill off one
penalty but St. Thomas
would tie things up on the second sending the game into overtime. Playing three-on-three
hockey, both teams played hard for the win but The Stars would finally score
and get the 2-1 win.
