Great start to the season!
The Saugeen Shores Port Elgin Legion PeeWee BB Storm played
their first game of the regular season Saturday afternoon at the Plex against
the Listowel Cyclones. The teams were
evenly matched as it was a low scoring affair even though both teams had plenty
of opportunities with the man advantage.
The first goal didn’t come until the dying minutes of the second period.
Jack Middleton took a shot from inside the blue line and Ben Lalonde buried the
rebound. Listowel started the third determined to tie things up and they did but
it was immediately called back as one of their players was in the crease. Saugeen Shores responded by putting the pressure
on the Cyclones. Brayden Horseman fired a shot at the net, Hunter Cannon was
stopped, but third time was the charm as Ben Lalonde found the back of the net.
Listowel didn’t give up and had some good scoring chances but The Storm held on
for a 2-0 win. Great offence from Emma Vanhaelemeesch, Jack Kozelenko, Garrett
Hall, Nic Matheson & Shawn Charlebois. Good job on the blue line from Nolan
Dereski, Sam Maksymyk & Riley Johnson. Congratulations to Christian Doubt
on the shutout. Great start to the season.
