Willy's Contracting Strike First In Championship Series
Willy's Novice LL Tm#2 ended the regular season in first place and fittingly squared off against the league second place finishers Shallow Lake Tm#2 Friday night in Southampton for the overall Championship.

The Saugeen Shores snipers set the pace in the first period with Dylan Poulsen and Spencer Sutter-Lammie scoring two each and Kaya Hall ending the period with one to put the home side up 5 – 2.  The whole team was playing as they practiced, winning the battles and goalie Kayden Vance had his A-game. Building off this strong start Willy’s also won the second period 6 – 2 with Spencer getting 3 quick ones followed by Dylan, Kaya and Olivia Hall with one each.  The adrenaline was flowing but credit Shallow Lake for not giving in. The third period was theirs, winning it 5 – 3 but Kaya popped in two and Spencer one to keep the Lakers at bay. Assists on the scoresheet had Quinn Fowler, Spencer, Dylan, and Kaya but everyone contributed. The rushes by Braydyn Root and Ritchie Carter, the puck handling of Quinn and Zach Leaver, the strong face-offs of Cali Drope which consistently started an offensive thrust, and the aggressiveness of Emily Russett and Tanner McGrory made this win a team win. We had our lapses as shown by our goals against but we give kudos to the opposition. Dylan Poulsen was presented the Digger Award for his slick play edging out Ritchie Carter who had an equally strong game. Second game of the 2/3 series is Saturday morning in Shallow Lake. Game time 11:30. Sleep well.
