Novice LL#1 Finish Regular Season Strong
Our Saugeen Shores Novice LL#1 team finished their regular season this weekend with two games.  Playing with a full squad, the coaches had a perfect opportunity to work with the kids on playing as a team.  And play as a team they did indeed.

The first game was against Bruce Peninsula #1.  Our novices came out of the gate a little slow, but as the first period progressed we gained momentum.  Our defence was strong all game with Aidan Marshall, Maddy Leger, Jacob Thornley and Jack Bennett.  They kept the puck away from our net and created many opportunites for themselves and our forwards.  Scoring did not start until the second period for either team.

Joseph Anderson was ready in net, but one puck managed to squeak through his pads and BP was on the board (this would be the only goal allowed by Joseph all game).   This goal must have made Joey Ackert angry, as he imediately took the puck and put it in the back of the BP net.  A few minutes later his center mate Nolan Schoneck scored the second goal for Saugeen Shores.  A testiment to the coaches hard work showed the kids playing their positions and with one minute left, the line of Lauren MacDonald, Kennedy Stauffer, and Joey Ackert struck again with a pass from Kennedy going to Joey where he made no mistake and scored his second of the game.

The third period showed much of the same hard work.  The line of Braden Kahgee, Adam McGregor and Jake Lawrence worked very well together, with many chances, but no luck.  With 7 minutes left, Nolan Schoneck scored his second of the game thanks to the hard work of the defence who got the puck to him.  A few minutes later the line of Joey, Lauren and Kennedy struck again when Lauren passed the puck to Kennedy in front of the net.  Kennedy made no mistake as the puck found the back of the net.  Our final goal of the game was from the line of Wesley Kozelenko, Keelan Soini and Nolan Schoneck.  Keelan did a fantastic job of keeping the puck in our end with tough play, giving to puck to Nolan who gave it to Wes.  Wes finished off the play with a little magic of his own.  Final score 6-1 for the Storm.

The final game of the season was the following day against Saugeen Shores Novice LL#3.  The team again showed great team play, but fell short to the strong LL#3 team 6-3.

The kids have shown they are a hardworking group and with the great progress they have shown, we look forward to what they can do in the playoffs!  Thanks to our great coaching staff for getting them this far.
