Novice Local League #1 Win Season Opener
Saugeen Shores Novice Local League #1 played their season opener Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Plex against Arran Elderslie resulting in a 6-2 win.
The team, lead by goalie Jack Bennet, came out of the dressing room ready to play. Excitement ran high on both sides. Arran Elderslie struck first, but the Saugeen Shores Novices rallied back with Nolan Schoneck scoring the fist goal assisted by Joey Ackert. Joey scored the first of his 2 unassited goals next. Lauren MacDonald then potted her first of the season assisted by Nolan Schoneck and Joseph Anderson.
The second period proved to be equally thrilling with lots of action on both sides. The scoring lead of with Joseph Anderson scoring his first assisted by Joey Ackert. Arran Elderslie scored next, but not to be outdone, Saugeen Shores finished off the period with a great rush by Jacob Thornley resulting in his first goal, assisted by Adam McGregor.
The third period proved to be a defensive battle, lead by Kennedy Stauffer, Wes Kozelenko, Jake Lawrence, Maddy Leger, and Aidan Marshall. Jack Bennet, in goal, kept the team in it with many outstanding saves.
The Novice's will be back in action Saturday, Nov.5 at 1 pm at the Plex against Novice Local League #2 and then again Sunday, Nov. 6 at 12 pm at the Plex against TCDMHA.
