Storm Bantam Girls Shut Down Rebels
Goaltender Heather Kozak turned away 35 shots to earn her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday (Dec 18) as the Saugeen Shores Storm Bantam B Girls travelled to Chatsworth to take on the TCDMHA Rebels.

The sub-zero temperature inside the rink kept the fans bundled up, but it did not slow the Allan’s Fireside Grill / Heather’s Poodle Care Bantams one bit, as the game featured fast paced end to end action from the opening face-off.

The Rebels got into penalty trouble early in the first period on a hooking call, and some solid forechecking on the power play led to nice goal by Alexis Martin (unassisted).  The goal put the Storm up 1-0 and seemed to surprise the Rebels, who had been victorious in an earlier meeting between the two teams.

Despite some increased pressure by the Rebels in the second period, Zoe Mackintosh put the Storm up 2-0 midway through the period on a great feed from line mate Bronwyn Berry.

The Rebels came out even stronger in the third period, perhaps due to the 10 minute intermission, but they were no match for the Storm defense and for Kozak who made a few extremely difficult saves in the third frame.

Late in the third, Mackintosh’s second of the game, a beautiful breakaway goal thanks to a nifty stretch pass from Storm defender Sarah Kelly, put the game out of reach and secured the well-earned 3-0 victory for the Storm.
