Midget AE’s WOAA Lockridge Midget Rep Hockey Champions. Colton Hall’s natural hat trick sparks 6-2 Storm win.

The Saugeen Shores Legault's Independent Grocer Storm Midget AE's defeated the Teeswater midget rep team last night taking two games straight in the best of three final championship series.

The Storm opened the series on the road in Teeswater on Sunday and skated to a 4-1 win. Game 2 was played in South Monday night. Just like in the first game, the Otters scored first with 3 minutes left in the period.

Starting the second period down a goal, the Storm scored early in the second when Colton Hall evened the score with Chris Gundrum and Taylor Schihl drawing assists. The Storm continued to press and at the 6:13 Colton Hall fired a shot past the goalie on a feed from Stephen Pilar. Less than a minute later Colton struck again taking a pass from Greg McCulloch, wiring a shot into the net to complete the hat trick. The Otters were on their heels and 18 seconds after Colton’s goal, Spencer Schihl sprang Taylor Schihl who broke in on goal and made no mistake as he buried the puck in the Teeswater cage. The scoring continued as Chris Gundrum blasted a power play goal after Josh Stewart got the puck back to him at the point. Teeswater scored their own power play goal at the :30 second mark and the second period ended with a commanding 3 goal lead for the Storm.

Physical play dominated the third period and the only scoring came when the Storm’s Duncan Simpson scored with Taylor Schihl and Jacob Roote assisting. The game ended with a 6 to 2 Storm win and the Lockridge Midget Rep championship trophy.

The players and coaches are to be congratulated on their hard work and their success. Thanks for an exciting hockey season and have a great summer.

Go Storm Go.
