The Storm blew into Walkerton on Nov. 13, 2011 looking to keep their undefeated streak alive in the one day tourney

New Hamburg spoiled the shutout bid in the 3rd, for a 6-1 final score.

We then took the ice against one of the hometown Capital teams again both sides fought back and forth to a 0-0 1st period score. Early in the second Carter O’Leary netted the 1st of his goals followed by 1 in the third rounding out the scoring Toby Wilkinson cashed in an open netter. A solid performance in both ends of the ice helped the outstanding play of Alex Horning to the 3-0 shutout. This put the Storm directly into the championship final.

The Storm flying out of the gate putting the hometown Capital team on its heels for the opening minutes of the first period; Capitals goaltender turned away numerous scoring chances having both teams settle into a back and forth end to end exchange. Capitals getting the first marker on the power play half way through the 1st period then adding to it right at the end of the 1st. Trailing for the first time in the tourney the Storm righted themselves with strong defence and the spectacular glove of goaltender Alex Horning who robbed the Capitals of the third goal by snatching a bullet for the far post.

Jarrett Cameron then went end to end to pull the Storm to within 1, Nick Scott equalizing it moments later. Carter O’Leary on fire all tourney netted one along with Toby Wilkinson ending the 2nd period. The 3rd period mirrored the back and forth action of the other two periods as the Storm repelled the Capital advances. Late in the 3rd the Capitals pulled their goaltender putting the extra attacker on thought they had pulled to with in one on a furious goal mouth scrum but were turned away again by the great glove of Alex Horning with 1:36 remaining the Storm kept the Capitals at arms length almost netting an open net goal finishing with a well deserved 4-2 win and the championship trophy.
