An early morning in Lion's Head
SS#2 needs to hold their heads high after a terrific showing in Lion's Head early Sunday morning.

After scrounging for a few forgotten items, the SS#2 pulled it together to put up a great game against one of the league's most dominant teams--Lion's Head.  A few positional changes in the line-up seemed to spark the team, as Erik Johnson started the scoring less than a minute into the game with a great breakaway goal.  Try as they might, Lion's Head had a hard time clearing the puck from their zone for the remainder of the first period.  Our offense put their goalie through his paces, as many great shots were deflected and could have easily gone through.  SS#2 started to take command of the game in the second with great zone clearing and passing.  Playing forward for a change of pace, Darian Besito showed he could score goals as well with a great shot from right in front of the net to set the score at 2-0.  However, the strong skating of the first period started to slow, and Lion's Head took advantage with a goal with a couple minutes left in the second period.  Lion's Head was bolstered with another goal at the beginning of the third, and then another goal a couple minutes later.  SS#2 pulled it together and went back to the game plan of looking and passing and using the boards, and it paid off with a goal with 6 minutes left by Jared Cameron to tie the game up.  Riley Funston did the Bobby Orr thing, and with just a minute left to play became the offensive-defensive player and her persistence in front of the net paid off with what would be the winning goal.  The last minute saw some great clearing from SS#2, as Lion's Head pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie it up and go into overtime.  Alas, for them, it was not to be, and SS#2 emerged the winners!  Way to go Storm!
