The TD Canada Trust/Allen's Fireside Atom LL were in action this past Monday against Shallow Lake. Saugeen Shores started off strong in this game with Austin Fewster and Jonah Neron pacing the Storm to a 3-1 lead after the first, with key saves made by Adrian Schwandt in a back and forth first period.
The Storm extended the lead early in the second with Jonah Neron and Bill Johnson setting up Nick Plaice and a 4-1 lead. The defense lead by Jack Peevers and Wes Johnson and strong offensive zone pressure from Tarik McKay, Brett Kinden and Tommy Hokea-Little kept the Lakers pinned down. Shallow Lake wasn't giving up and quickly got back into the game with 3 quick goals to tie the score at 4-4 heading into the third.
The boys were unable to turn the tide early in the third and Shallow Lake capitalized on our defensive mistakes and some poor luck (and slow whistles) allowed the Lakers to pop in some quick goals. Braeden Ashton's hard work paid off with a goal on a set up from Kevin Crombeen to keep the Storm close. River Roote and Wade Kewageshig were buzzing around the goal, but Shallow lake held on in the end for the 9-5 win.
