Bantam C Girls Bring It On and Advance in Playoffs
Written by Chris Becker.

The Remax Land Exchange and Midsummer’s Café Bantam C girls have just finished up an intense first round of playoffs!   Game one found the Storm battling Kincardine and despite a good  effort came up just short at 3–2 for Kincardine.  Captain McKenzie Brown scored both goals of the evening, with assists going to Sydney Morton, Delaney Brown and two to Samantha Harvie.

Things got even more interesting later that week when the girls traveled to Mildmay for game two.  Looking for a win or tie to advance, the Storm played hard but found themselves down 3-0 with only 7 minutes remaining in the game.  They never gave up and it payed off when Nicole Pineault got things rolling with the first goal for the Storm assisted by Delaney Brown.  That was all it took to rev them up for more!  McKenzie Brown followed with a goal assisted by Rayne Crosetta.  Finally, with only 35 seconds remaining, the Brown sisters combined in a beautiful play to tie it up and bring the crowd to its feet!

Game 3 against Arran-Elderslie in Southampton saw the Storm Bantam C girls on their game right from the beginning when M. Brown got one early to set the standard.  Morton got the assist.  Brown would go on to score two more goals for a hatrick, one unassisted and Crosetta assisting on the other.  Sabrina Goegan, assisted by M. Brown finished off the scoring for a 4-0 win for the Storm.  A strong and solid defensive action lead by assistant captains Emily Cruchley and Sabrina Olinskie helped Bryanna Cobean to her 10th shut out of the season.

Most recently, Game 4 saw home ice advantage for the girls as they hosted Tiverton.  Playing hard and strategic, the Bantam C girls were scoreless until late in the second period when M. Brown delivered with an unassisted goal to give the Storm a 1- 0 lead.  A tight game, the strong defensive team of Maddie McNeill, Sydney Liddle, Samantha Albright, Kira Bollen, Olinskie and Cruchley all played their positions well and helped to hold Tiverton off the score sheet.  Forwards, Crosetta, Jocelyn Parker, Harvie, Teila Becker, Pineault, Goegan, Morton, D. Brown and M. Brown skated hard and played smart.  Still a close game, Albright let the fans breathe a little easier after scoring with a beautiful shot from the blue line.  Olinskie received the assist.  Showing Tiverton that they meant business, Becker shot the next goal in assisted by Parker to end the game with a 3–0 win.  The excellent saves and quick thinking throughout the game by goalie Bryanna Cobean lead her to her 11th shut out of her premiere season as the Storm goaltender.

The Remax and Midsummer’s Café Bantam C Girls staff and parents are very proud of the girls “never give up” attitude and look forward to the next round of the playoffs.  Go Storm Go!!!!!!!
