Legault's Midget AE Take Two Games Against Mitchell
    The Saugeen Shores Legaults Independent Midget AE team hosted Mitchell on Oct 14th and earned a 3-0 shutout in their home opener and then made the return trip to Mitchell on Oct 19th and came home with a convincing 8-1 victory.

   Both teams displayed a cautious approach in the first period with goaltenders (Brody Farrish - Storm and Justin Cronin (Mitchell) keeping the nets clean for the entire frame.

The tempo in the 2nd period increased significantly with a multitude of penalties called against both teams. With only 37.2 seconds left in the period Cody Charlebois notched the first home marker of the season on a setup from Russ MacMillan. With just .3 seconds left MacMillan notched his own with an assist from Sam Vecchies to give the Storm a 2-0 lead.

The 3rd period featured end to end action as Mitchell tried to get back in the game, however a strong team effort and excellent goaltending by Farrish held them off the score sheet. With 2:37 left to play in the game Darren Kimewon banged home his first of the season on a setup from Dalton Lewis and Vecchies to seal the 3-0 shutout victory.

In the return match in Mitchell the Storm totally dominated the first two periods of play. They jumped into the lead just 1:01 into the match as Sam Vecchies slammed one home on a pass from Jacob Roote. Less than a minute later, Tanner Beange fired home a blast from the point on a pass from Zach Walker, and with only :29 seconds left in the period Jacob Roote dented the twine with helpers credited Vecchies and Russ MacMillan for a 3-0 lead.

The Storm continued to press with each player exhibiting the basic fundementals and employing the drills learned in practice and were awarded with 4 more goals in the 2nd frame. MacMillan banged home a rebound on a setup from Roote and Daniel Kimewon at the 11:05 mark. Dalton Lewis popped one into the open corner on a nice setup from Zach Walker who had taken a lead pass from Jeff Sinclair at the 9:18 mark to give the Storm a commanding 5-0 lead. Vecchies popped home his 2nd unassisted at the 6:00 mark and Walker banked one off the post while shooting from his knees after taking a pass from Cass Walden for a 7-0 lead at the end of 2 complete periods of play.

The tempo in the 3rd period slowed considerably, however the Storm should be credited for sticking to their game plan and maintaining their composure as Mitchell cranked up their level of intensity. Alex wunderlich was strong in goal in his first start in a Storm jersey, however Brady Gerb-Wietzel finally solved the riddle to break the shut-out. Final score 8-1 for the Storm

This game was excellent preparation as the Storm head to Collingwood for their SilverStick Tournament on Oct 23,24 & 25. Go Storm.
