The Storm hosted the other Saugeen team (#2) in a return match and earned a well deserved victory by a score of 7-4.
Eager to get on the board first, Coby Stanley potted the first marker of the contest, on a pass from Tyler Muzzel and Taylor Cameron just :19 seconds into the period to give SS #1 the lead. This set the tempo for the game as both teams gave it their all, with end to end play and numerous scoring chances. With 3:06 left to play in the period, Austin Henry took a pass from Taylor Cameron and blasted goal #2 for a 2 goal lead. With just :16 seconds left in the period, Blane Roote fired a wrist shot to give the Storm a 3 goal lead with assists to Cameron and Coby Stanley.

The 2nd period started just like the first with Roote notching his 2nd of the game with assists to Stanley and Muzzel. SS # 2 did not give up however, and at 5:56 Charlie Wilkinson buried one on a pass from Cameron MacKay to cut the lead to 3. SS #1 replied at 5:29 on a blast from the point by Ben Walker on a nice pass from Taylor Cameron to return the 4 goal lead. SS # 2 replied in kind at the 4:05 mark as Wilkinson notched his 2nd of the game, assisted by MacKay and Dan Hilbers. At the end of 2 frames, SS#1 led by a score of 5-2.

Once again SS#1 drove to the net directly off the face off and were rewarded with goal number 6 as Taylor Cameron blasted a slapshot just inside the post. SS # 2 were determined and kept pressing and Dylan Thomas potted their 3rd goal of the game with assists to Connor Speer and Blake D’Angelo at the 10:22 mark. They cut the deficit to just 2 goals as Wilkinson scored his 3rd on a pass from Curtis Ritchie with 3:14 left to play. SS # 1 were equally determined and with 2:45 left to play Taylor Cameron notched his 2nd of the contest with help from Blane Roote. Final score SS #1 7, SS #2 4.

Goaltenders (Olivier Caudle SS#1 and Joey Seymour #2) played extremely well in goal, and both teams displayed great talent and determination in a very entertaining game. Congratulations to both teams!

Next action for the Storm will see them host Lion’s Head at the Plex on Sunday, February 1st at 3:00 pm, and then host Arran-Elderslie #1 at the Coliseum in Southampton on Friday, February 6th at 7:45 pm.
