The Power Workers Union Training Inc. and Bruce County Physiotherapy Peewee Local #1 Storm earn two wins over the weekend.
The Storm hosted Wiarton on January 17th with both teams displaying a great deal of talent and determination.   After a half a period of play where both teams traded numerous scoring chances only to be stymied by solid goaltending (Olivier Caudle for the Storm and Cameron Glover for Wiarton), the Storm broke the deadlock on a boomer from Ben Walker, assisted by Ben Vecchies. This seemed to raise the intensity for both teams, however at the end of the period the score remained 1-0 for the home squad.

The 2nd period was almost a carbon copy of the first with both teams giving it their all, intent on claiming victory. At the 10:59 mark, Coby Stanley scored an unassisted goal to put the Storm up by 2. Again each team continued to press, however Caudle and Glover stoned every attempt and at the end of 2 the score remained 2-0.

The 3rd featured an even faster tempo and a more aggressive style of play by both squads as they gave it their all. The action featured end to end rushes by each team along with heavy hitting and lots of opportunities. With 7:12 left to play, Wiarton finally put one past Caudle on an unassisted goal by Zach Lancaster to cut the lead to one. The remainder of the game remained a nailbiter as every shot made a difference, however the Storm hung on to claim a hard fought and well deserved 2-1 victory.

The Storm then traveled to Keady on January 18th to faceTCDMHA #1 where the home squad jumped out of the blocks, scoring just :15 seconds into the game on a goal by Jordan Baumber. To their credit the Storm kept pushing and at 6:53 were awarded on an unassisted goal by Harrison Williams. A little over 3 minutes later, the Storm struck again with Taylor Cameron scoring an unassisted goal, and then 2 minutes and 7 seconds later he notched his 2nd of the period to give the Storm a 3-1 lead at the end of 1 frame.

The Storm were on a roll and kept up the pressure with a strong forecheck from the drop of the puck in the 2nd period. Josh Stewart tallied Storm goal $3 on a set up from Taylor Cameron just :25 seconds into the period. A little over 5 minutes later Stephen Butcher scored on a set up from Ben Vecchies to make it 5-1. With just 2:35 left on the clock Taylor Cameron took a pass from Blane Roote and fired home his 3rd of the day for the hat-trick. At the end of 2 periods the Storm held a comfortable 6-1 lead thanks to the clutch goaltending of Olivier Caudle and a strong team effort.

The home squad never gave up and came out flying in the 3rd scoring a goal just :06 seconds after the drop of the puck as Baumber picked up his 2nd marker of the game. The Storm were equally determined as Harrison Williams responded with his 2nd of the contest just :29 seconds later. One minute and 15 seconds later Tyler Muzzel buried the final tally of the game for the Storm on a set-up from Taylor Cameron (his 5th point of the contest) and Josh Stewart. At the final whistle the Storm went home with an 8-2 victory.

Next action for the Storm will see them faceoff against SS #2 in back to back games. The first is on Sunday, January 25th at 3pm at the Plex, and the 2nd is Monday, Jan. 26th at 8:15pm at the Coliseum in Southampton.
