Storm #1 Finish Regular Season With Strong Game vs Ice Dogs
Storm #1, Carson Supply / Foodland, finish regular season with strong performance vs the Ice Dogs in Paisley.

The puck drops for the opening faceoff and the game is underway.  It didn’t take to long for the Storm to take over the Ice Dogs zone and begin to put pucks on the net.  Great positional play from the wingers allowed this to happen as they worked hard in the corners and always ready out front of the net.  The Ice Dogs not discouraged by this quick start by the Storm started fighting back hard and once again the wingers Jerri, Rhys, Jimmy, Logan and Lily had great positioning in their zone, ready to get the puck out.  Then Andy netted a beauty finding the short side between the Ice Dogs tender and the post as he picked up a pass from Austin D who had made a fantastic rush out of his zone, naturally Andy was awarded the goal and his defence partner Austin D the assist.  As the period continued Andrew made a rush attempt up ice, pretty much deeking out the entire Ice Dogs squad and slipping the puck past their netminder and over the goal line at 1:57.    This would put the Storm up by 2 for the remainder of the first period as Lucas had been really solid in net to keep the Ice Dogs off the board.

In the second the cetermen, Nick and Brennan were fantastic, working hard in all areas of the ice.  This hard work also allowed the period to be played mostly in the Ice Dogs zone with the wingers doing their job getting pucks to the net.  Our defensemen, Austin D, Andy, Talan and Andrew, as always were great at holding the blueline and moving the puck up ice.  As the Ice dogs tried to exit their zone Nick won a battle on the side boards and passed it back to Talan on the point.  Talan let her go as it bounced off an opposing players stick, then off the inside pad of the goalie and found the back of the net.  That was a beauty shot that the goalie had no chance of saving.  Talan was awarded the goal at 1:27 of the period and Nick the assist respectfully. Just a minute later Austin D had finally netted his chance with another beauty wrister than went off an Ice Dogs stick once again and was redirected by the netminder.  Brennan continued to fly all over the ice and  Lucas continuing with a great performance still kept the Ice Dogs off the board and freezing the puck when his team needed it.

In the third the Storm kept up their hard work, and Lucas who was making all the right saves was looking hot until the puck got lost in the defensemen’s skates and the Ice Dogs scooped it up to beat Lucas on tricky shot.  The score would remain 4-1 at the final buzzer despite some great efforts by the Storm late in the game.  What a great finish to the end of the regular season.  Congrats team!!!  Jerri was awarded the Digger Award as she had played her best game all year going after the puck in the corners and skating really hard out there for loose ones.  Congrats Jerri!!!

As this was the end of the regular season the Coaching Staff would like to congratulate all the players on a great regular season.  We as a Coaching staff are very excited about our group of players and how they have developed into hockey players thus far and we are looking to continue this trend as we enter into the WOAA Novice North Playoffs.
