First 3 games of 2014 for Storm #1 goes well as they earn 4 of 6 possible points
Storm #1, Cason Supply / Foodland, faced The Rebels, the Lakers#2 and the Storm#2 in the first 3 games of the New Year earning 4 of a possible 6 points.

Jan 4th vs The Rebels @ the Plex
This was another interesting match vs The rebels as The Storm only had 7 skaters and a goaltender on the gamesheet. Nonetheless The Storm got off to a great start with Lucas potting a beauty just under 2 minutes into the game, then again at 5:10 of the period. Nick followed up with two more unassisted beauties at 3:19 and 1:54 to make the score 4-0 for The Storm after the first.
In the second we saw some great work in the Rebels end but it wasn’t until 6:57 of the period we saw Logan net his second of the year by going to the net and receiving a great pass from Andy who earned the assist on the goal. Shortly after Lucas blasted one past The Rebels netminder at 5:27 of the period recording his first Hat Trick and the Coach threw his hat on the ice in celebration. Talan continued the scoring parade using his wicked wrists shot from the point at 3:19 of the period building the teams confidence as they moved into he third period with a decent lead.
In the third Ian continued his solid game and has several chances but just wasn’t able to tuck her home. Lily who was making her team debus was great and it was nice to see she had the confidence to handle the puck, and was close to making a few shots on net.
Lucas scored his fourth of the game 7:37 of the period and was really gaining his confidence with the puck. The at 3:06 of the period with the puck loose beside the net after Ians shot, Andy managed to pull it back out front to bury his second of the season with Ian earning the assist.
Jimmy was fantastic all game as he never saw many shots but when he did he made the save and covered it up to get a whistle and let his players rest, he was awarded the game puck for recording his first ever shutout. Great work in net Jimmy!!
Lucas was awarded a puck for recording his first Hat Trick and the digger award was presented to Logan for his great battling in the corners and out front of the net all game, he must have had 12 shots on net during the game. Great work team!!

Jan 11th vs The Lakers#2 in Southampton
The players were ready to take on the Lakers#2 as this was the team that handed them their first loss of the season. The puck dropped and both teams got off battling for it. The storm were driving the net getting passes out front and shot that wouldn’t go in until finally Nick netted one near the end of the first. Despite the several great chances by The Storm the Lakers held them off for the rest of the first and second period.
In the third Lucas continued to be perfect in net, making save after save keeping his team ahead. Then in the dying second of the third the Lakers pulled their goalie to put 6 skaters on, and with 19.7 seconds left in the game they tied it up.
Lucas played a great game as he stood on his head the entire time, just coming short of the shutout. For his efforts he was awarded the Digger Award, Great job Lucas!!

Jan 19th vs Storm#2 in Southampton
It is always great to watch two Storm teams face off against each other as they are always exciting games. This game started out as a battle in the first with both goaltenders making remarkable saves. The storm #1 defence were rushing, the forwards where battling for the puck put there was no score until Storm#2 netted one with 1:58 left in the period.
Early into the second the Storm#1 went down by one more at 8:56 of the period and then again at 4:59. This put the Storm#1 down 3-0 early in the second period but instead of feeling defeated they wanted to get a couple back and really dug in to take on Storm#2. Then at 4:02 of the second Nick managed to get free and sailed a nice wrist shot into the back of the net getting his team going. The Storm#1 would close out the second with a score of 3-1 but they were just getting started.
With a few words of encouragement from the coaching staff the Storm#1 were looking confident going into the third. Lucas made some nice moves and lifted one high into the net past the tender to make it 3-2 at 9:34. Storm#1 realizing they were back in this game kept up the battle, and started to take control of the game. Austin D realizing he had a chance fired one on net at 7:57 and beat the Storm #2 goalie to tie the game. Spirits were high and the players kept up their hard work, and it all paid off when Ian grabbed the loose puck in the slot, let it go at the net and found the bottom corner to put his team up for the first time this game at 7:11. This was a new feeling for the team as they had battled back from a 3-0 deficit and now had the lead. The play continued and Storm#1 looked to have the upper hand until 5:04 of the period when Storm#2 tied it back up. The last 5 minutes of the game were back and forth and it looked like it could have been either team’s game, but despite the efforts and chances the score remained tied at 4 all when the final buzzer went to signal the end of the game.
Great job out there team as they never gave up even when they were down 3-0 earlier in the game. Jimmy played great in net making some remarkable saves and even soaking up some big shots and leaving no rebound. Brennan was awarded the digger as he was solid all game and played a great 3 periods of hockey. Congrats Brennan!!!
