Midget Girls Split Games in Oshawa
The Queen's Bar and Grill/Giant Tiger Lady Storm won 2 and lost 2 in a 20-team tournament on the weekend.
Both wins were 1-0 nail-biting affairs, with Kenzie Bertrand picking up the shutouts. In the game against Oshawa, Danielle Bennett swooped in and roofed a short-side shot for the game winner. The winner against Etobicoke came from Natasha Kippers who rapped it in in a scramble in front of the Gloucester goalie. The Storm losses were to the Gloucester Giroux team (4-0) in the round robin and to the Norfolk Hericanes (2-0) in the playoff round. Norfolk continued their winning ways and went on to the finals. Our Storm ladies, who are comprised exclusively of 15-year-olds or first-year Midgets, finished this Midget/Intermediate tournament in 9th place out of 20 teams. They showed plenty of determination and entertaining playmaking while competing against these older, more seasoned squads.
