PeeWee BB faces Kincardine

A couple of close, exciting games this week for the Saugeen Shores Legion PeeWee BB Storm. Wednesday, they travelled to Kincardine to take on the Kinucks. Approaching the halfway point of the first, Murry Martin took the initial shot and Nick Sutter buried the rebound. Kincardine answered quickly to tie things up but in the dieing seconds of the period, Murry Martin fed a pass to Nick Sutter who put it in on the open side. Lots of penalties started the second period as Kincardine tied the game on a 5 on 3 power play. However, two minutes later, Colton McNabb took a shot that trickled past the Kincardine goaltender as the Storm took the lead again. Duncan Wilkinson and Kenneth Bollen picked up the assists. The Kinucks tied it up early in the third and then scored the game winning goal with just under two minutes left in the game for a 4-3 win. Great job in net by Jake Ackert. Sunday afternoon, The Storm made their way to Hensall to play the undefeated BCH Icedogs. BCH would get the first goal early in the first period but it was back and forth for the remainder of the period. Forty-five seconds into the second Murry Martin passed to Nick Sutter picked the far corner as it went off of the inside of the far post and in. The Storm were on the power play two minutes later when Colton Heipel passed the puck in front of the net to Colton McNabb who back-handed the puck up and over the BCH goaltender for a 2-1 lead. Within two minutes, Thomas MacDonald skated the puck behind the opposing net and then found Nick Sutter in the high slot for a 3-1 lead. The Storm continued the press and were rewarded when Malcolm MacIntosh fed Duncan Wilkinson at the point and his hard wrist whot found the back of the net. The Storm had just killed off a penalty when BCH scored to make it 4-2 Saugeen Shores at the end of the second period. The BCH Icedogs scored the only goal of the third period but it wasn’t enough as Saugeen Shores handed them their first loss of the season 4-3. Congratulations to Jack Flarity with a well-deserved win. Great defensive job by Paul Leger, Kent Ribey, Jack Middleton, William Forsyth and Kelly Cobean. Excellent work up front by Aiden Ackermen, and Troy Cournyea.
