On the weekend of November 17th the
SSMHA U15B Boys, sponsored by
KNK Lawn Care, travelled to Buffalo for their second tournament of the season and they showed up to compete! Decked out in their new jerseys and socks graciously donated by our amazing sponsor, the looked like winners from the start!
On Friday the team played 2 games. The first game was at the Hockey Outlet arena in Niagara Falls NY against Ajax/Pickering and they dominated the ice for the entire game, ending with a 7-0 W. Game 2 they played a competitive Mount Brydges team at Hyde Park arena in Niagara Falls NY. This was a much closer game, but in the end STORM came out on top with a 5-4 Win!
The boys and parents had a great evening at the hotel with lots of team bonding!
On Saturday they had their ODR game at Buffalo Riverworks against St. Catharine's and it was a super fun experience for the kids and families. Our elected team photographer, Dallas Brown, managed to get some excellent shots of the game! During this game the boys really showed up looking for the Win and were rewarded with a 7-1 final, taking them to the semi final match up the next morning.
On Sunday the boys had a rematch against St. Catharine's at the Cornerstone Arena in Lockport NY. Although this game didn't start the way they wanted it to, they persevered and came out on top 6-2, bringing them to the FINALS that afternoon!!
At 4pm that day in Lockport, the SSMHA U15B team played against a tenacious NGS team and fell a little short, losing their first game of the weekend 4-2. Both of these teams had the same record at the tournament and were very well matched.
This weekend the boys rallied around each other and played the best collaborative hockey they'd played to date and it paid off. All the kids had points on the game sheets, a true testament to team work on the ice!

Next tournament is Regional Silver Stick in Kincardine at the end of December. GO STORM!!!
